BS/DO Programs with Options
Are you excited to become a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO)? Elmira's Early Acceptance Program with Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine (LECOM) streamlines the path to becoming one. When you enroll in Elmira and LECOM’s dual degree path, your graduate program seat is secured, which allows you to focus on your undergraduate studies without the pressure of seeking a medical school or taking the MCAT. What’s more is that you have the choice between an accelerated 2+4 or a traditional 4+4 track for your academic journey.
"I chose Elmira not only because of the scholarships and financial aid, but because of the immediate assurance of getting into medical school. ... Being at Elmira and having that tie [with LECOM] lets me explore and learn in different areas."

Dual BS/DO Degree—Are You Ready?
Choosing a dual degree in Biology sets you apart from the crowd. It shows you’re serious about your professional future and determined to embrace the academic rigors of such a program. We offer two learning tracks so you can target how you want to earn your dual degree.
- You’re ready to take on the BS/DO accelerated program if you’re studious, self-motivated, and confident about your goals. This unique six-year program will reduce the time you spend in college, saving you money and allowing you to start your career more quickly. You’ll spend your first two years at Elmira completing your general education requirements and taking courses toward a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Biology. In your third year, you’ll complete your BS degree and start your DO work while dual enrolled at Elmira and LECOM. Your final three years will be dedicated to earning your DO at LECOM.
- You should keep exploring if you want to take your time figuring out what your career path is. The traditional 4+4 Early Acceptance Program option means you’ll complete your undergraduate degree at Elmira in the normal four years. Provided you maintain the required GPA and other requirements, you’ll enter LECOM’s DO program in July following your Elmira graduation. You’ll complete your DO work in four years at LECOM.
